OK Computer was produced by Nigel Godrich and Radiohead. The vocals on the album also went through varispeeding which is a technique of recording various tracks on a multi-track tape at slightly different tape speeds. One more feature of the album is the use of automatic double tracking which uses tape recorders to create an instantaneous and simultaneous doubling of sound. The use of magnetic tape recording led to innovative use of instruments and production effects like the tape-based keyboard sampler, the Mellotron, effects like flanging and phasing. Born in the small dairy farm community of Viroqua, Wisconsin, Vig studied piano as a child, picking up. Where many bands had attempted the female-fronted electronic/alternative hybrid formula, Garbage somehow clicked with the public. Butch Vig was the premier producer of the alternative rock boom of the early '90s, helming records for bands including Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and Sonic Youth, before finding success as a performer with the group Garbage. The recording made extensive use of the technique known as bouncing down, in which a number of tracks were recorded across the four tracks of one recorder which were then mixed and dubbed down onto one track of the master 4-track machine. The brainchild of drummer/producer Butch Vig, Garbage sprang up in the mid-1990s at just the right time.

The album was produced and mixed by George Martin. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was an album which set a standard for concept albums. This made the vocals in the song fuller and more powerful. Cobain at first disagreed but Vig conviced Cobain that John Lennon did overdubs and Cobain finally agreed to do it because Cobain was a fan of John Lennon. “In Bloom”, another song from Nevermind, Vig asked Kurt Cobain, Nirvana’s frontman, to perform overdubs for the vocals. One of the album’s songs, “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, helped propel Nevermind to the top of the charts above Michael Jackson and Guns & Roses. He implemented plenty of guitar overdubs and vocal overdubs to make the songs sound bigger and richer. Butch Vig introduced a more pop like approach to recording the album. Nevermind was produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Andy Wallace. Nevermind was an album that brought alternative rock to the mainstream. Nirvana’s Nevermind was an influential album on the music industry.
